Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 May 2025
Peak Brain Rot ("the app", "we", "us") is an exercise-gated distraction blocker. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it's used, and your rights.
Data we collect
Short answer: we don't collect your data.
Peak Brain Rot runs entirely on your device. Your $PEAK balance, ledger, blocklist preferences, and profile are stored locally using on-device storage (AsyncStorage). No data is sent to our servers, because we don't have any — there is no account system, no cloud sync, and no analytics.
Information you provide
During onboarding, you provide:
- Your age (used to calculate your estimated max heart rate)
- Your earning threshold preference (70%, 80%, or 90% of max HR)
This information is used solely to determine your $PEAK earning rate and is stored only on your device. It is never transmitted off your device.
Health data
Health Connect (Android)
Peak Brain Rot requests read-only access to Android Health Connect to import workout and heart rate data from your smartwatch or fitness tracker. If granted, the app reads:
- Exercise sessions (type, start time, end time)
- Heart rate samples during those sessions
This data is processed entirely on your device to compute peak minutes (minutes with heart rate above your threshold) and credit your $PEAK balance. Heart rate data is never sent to any server, third party, or external service.
HealthKit (iOS)
On iOS, the app requests read-only access to Apple HealthKit for the same purpose: reading workout sessions and associated heart rate data. The same privacy guarantees apply — all processing is local, nothing leaves your device.
You can revoke health data permissions at any time through your device's settings.
Usage access (Android)
To detect when you open a blocked app, Peak Brain Rot uses Android's UsageStatsManager API, which requires the "Usage access" permission. This permission lets the app see which app is currently in the foreground. We use this solely for blocking enforcement — we do not log, store, or transmit your app usage history.
Display over other apps (Android)
The "Display over other apps" permission is used to show the block overlay when you open a blocked app. It is not used for any other purpose.
Third-party services
Peak Brain Rot does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services.
Data sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer any user data to third parties. There is no data to share — everything stays on your device.
Data retention and deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
- Reset in-app: Use Settings > Wipe balance + ledger to clear all earning and spending history.
- Reset onboarding: Use Settings > Reset onboarding to start fresh.
- Uninstall: Uninstalling the app removes all stored data from your device.
- Clear app data: Use your device's Settings > Apps > Peak Brain Rot > Clear Data.
Children's privacy
Peak Brain Rot is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we add cloud features, accounts, or analytics in a future version, we will update this privacy policy before those features go live. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
